Neuron orchestrator V2 integration results
Candidate and scope
The integration ports the coherent October 5 T3 Code V2 baseline into Neuron. It includes the durable orchestration runtime, provider adapters, shared contracts and client state changes needed to use it together. Neuron's installed app and live databases have not been changed. Verification uses automated fixtures and recorded transports; no browser, real application or live provider was run.
Upstream reference: V2 pull request, pinned source. The later stable Effect 4 migration is excluded. This port uses Effect 4 release candidate 115 and the matching dependency/patch set.
What it adds
- Durable commands, runs, effects and recovery replace the V1 orchestration engine. Queue ordering, held work, interruption, approval and input requests are tracked through persisted state.
- Provider handoff, native thread forks, child-agent lineage and merge-back become part of the orchestration model. Provider support follows each adapter's actual capabilities.
- Tasks and schedules use the V2 lifecycle and MCP control surface.
- The client uses V2 shell/history streams, bounded paging and persisted workflow state.
- Additional provider routes include Pi, registry ACP and OpenCode2. Existing Codex, Claude, Cursor, Grok, OpenCode and Antigravity integration remains covered by synthetic and recorded tests.
Neuron preservation
Neuron's forms and Mermaid blocks, collaborative preview, whiteboards, peer opt-in policy, native notifications, Neovim launching, LAN phone pairing, and local/direct/SSH connection paths remain in scope. Owned child agents have a narrow coordination exception; unrelated peers still require both projects to opt in. Preview, whiteboard and peer capabilities remain independent.
The desktop shell remains Neuron's macOS/Linux shell. Mobile clients, Windows/WSL support, cloud accounts, managed relays and analytics were excluded. The local daily updater still uses a committed build, retains the prior app and backs up state during installation. No install or launch was performed in this task.
Existing data
The port preserves Neuron's deployed migration IDs 1–51, assigns the imported migrations 52–58 and adds history compatibility at 59. Exact names, contiguous predecessors and required schema are validated before migration.
On first V2 initialization, the old SQLite database is read through a consistent snapshot into a separate V2 database. Existing V2 state is never overwritten. The original remains available for recovery. Historical records retain their original metadata and payload without resurrecting approvals or provider sessions. First continuation starts a fresh provider session with bounded history context.
Historical checkpoint diffs are available only when their cached contents exist. They are read-only, bounded and checked against the current thread incarnation. Historical restore remains disabled. New V2 checkpoints use normal V2 restoration.
Verification
The focused automated gates passed. The committed candidate is 6593414626819cecadb032885031d777f3c3f0b5 on feat/orchestrator-v2. Independent Standards and Spec reviews approved this immutable commit with no unresolved source findings. The clean macOS arm64 ZIP build and archive inspection passed.
Automated evidence includes the following focused batches. Counts are reported by batch rather than added together because some cases were rerun after repairs.
| Area | Result |
|---|---|
| Durable execution, queue order, provider switch, recovery and checkpointing | 147 passed across 10 selected files |
| Recorded provider scenarios, recovery, native fork, merge-back, schedules | 142 passed across 6 files; no skips |
| Runtime lifecycle, migration and pull-request identity | 78 passed across 3 files |
| Wire paging/streams, bounded history, client sync, desktop launcher/preload | 118 passed across 8 files; runtime lifecycle was rerun separately after fixture repairs |
| Notification snapshot-to-stream boundary, authorization and environment wire | 27 passed across 4 files |
| Notification signals, native coordination and daily installer guards | 16 passed across 3 files |
| Neuron form interaction and whiteboard persistence/environment isolation | 127 passed |
| Third-party license collection and fallback boundaries | 17 passed; generated manifest contains 694 nonempty notices |
| Cursor subprocess guard | 5 mocked subprocess cases passed |
| Desktop staging, bundle policy and Cursor filesystem lookup | 50 passed across 3 selected files |
Affected-package typechecks passed separately for server, web, desktop, client runtime, contracts, shared, SSH, Tailscale, Effect ACP, Effect Codex and build scripts. Targeted lint and formatting cover changed sources; no repository-wide check was used. Conditional-return checks found no remaining violations. Migration fixtures cover source immutability, exact ledger validation, existing-target protection, lazy history, historical details and cached diff limits.
The server build contains the CLI entry, Claude-history worker, local service launcher and whiteboard renderer. Web and desktop production bundles build successfully. The inspected ZIP contains these entries and its embedded commit matches the clean source.
Additional final repair gates:
| Area | Result |
|---|---|
| Whiteboard failure preservation, permanent supersession and periodic retry with settlement disabled | 32 passed across 3 files |
| Native-device panel exclusion and persisted panel migration | 253 passed across 5 files |
| Settings contracts and scope after native-device removal | 210 passed across 3 files |
| Neuron links, citation rendering, clipboard writers and historical read aliases | 352 passed across 13 files |
| Authenticated MCP-over-ACP and stdio forwarding | 12 passed across 2 files |
| Protocol header/CORS, bounded HTTP contract, Cursor text generation and local pinned runtime | 56 passed across 5 files |
The final recorded-provider matrix was rerun after every protocol namespace repair: all 142 cases passed again, without skips, relaxed matching or modified raw recordings. Server and client-runtime compilers passed on the frozen source; web, shared and contracts compilers passed after the final client changes.
Independent review identified and repaired a whiteboard acknowledgement bug: temporary commit/storage failures now preserve pending revisions for retry. A typed permanent guard handles superseded activity, and activity draining works when automatic settlement is disabled. Other repairs remove unsupported native mobile/device surfaces, preserve old context/citation/clipboard readers, correct packaged entry points and dependency closures, and remove stale package exports and unused release tooling.
Archive inspection found and repaired a Cursor packaging gap. The JavaScript SDK had been included while its platform packages were omitted. Production staging now materializes only the selected macOS/Linux platform packages outside the archive, preserving executable permissions and vendor native assets. A fixture runs the installed SDK's pure asset locator against real staged files using a loader limited to filesystem/path builtins. It verifies success and failure after removing a required asset; no provider or native binary is executed.
Daily candidate
The reviewed integration is ready as a daily-install candidate under the agreed automated-only acceptance boundary. It is isolated on branch feat/orchestrator-v2; the main checkout retains its original notification-copy changes. The installed app and live data are unchanged.

ZIP integrity passed. Static inspection verified bundle identifier com.neuron.app, the arm64 executable, desktop main/preload, CLI, Claude-history worker, local service launcher, whiteboard/client renderer entries, 694 nonempty license notices, 4 WASM assets, 476 font assets and all 8 archived native addons on unpacked real-disk paths. Cursor SDK 1.0.31 has the selected real-disk platform package, executable helpers and tree-sitter natives. The resource monitor is present and executable; no update feed is packaged.
An independent static audit of the final extracted app parsed all 26 emitted server/desktop runtime files. All 47 relative imports and asset references resolve, all 7 worker/launcher/preload entries exist, and 42 packaged npm manifests have no missing required dependencies or entrypoints. All 8 native addons and the FFF dynamic library exist on unpacked real-disk paths. The only missing optional imports are WebSocket acceleration modules with guarded fallbacks.
Two subagents reviewed the full immutable change range against 82af82df49dde6be4484851558cd8c7a7473062a on separate assigned Standards/Spec scopes. Independent server review and independent client/desktop/packaging review each report no unresolved source findings. The final audit checked 2,259 JS/TS-family sources and one C source for introduced conditional-return/parse violations, with none found. All 388 explicit runtime exports resolve by exact committed paths. The Cursor repair was independently reviewed by an agent who did not implement it.
The earlier ZIP from 1821e3f1 is superseded and must not be used; it lacks Cursor platform resources. Use the artifact above.
Installation and first launch remain separate. The installer backs up userdata and retains the previous bundle. On first V2 startup, the old database is copied and upgraded without writing back into the original; a rollback must restore the previous bundle together with its matching userdata backup. New V2 work does not flow back into the old database.
No native visual QA, live-provider acceptance, real application test, installation or live-database transition was performed. The candidate recommendation is based on the focused automated tests, recorded transports, affected-package compilers, independent source reviews and archive inspection documented here.
The reviewed implementation plan records the decisions, preservation requirements and acceptance gates.
